"We have found significant inspiration for reliquary of labor in the construction process of the New Britain Museum of American Art's new building. In addition to having provided nearly all of the sound and video materials for the creation of reliquary..., (we have been videotaping and sound harvesting throughout the construction process), it has strongly suggested metaphoric use of building construction and the labor involved in its realization, as a way to see the resulting building itself, in this case an art museum, and the processes by which it is built in a whole new light - especially the myriad of highly specialized forms of labor and design involved in the process.
There is an elegance in the cooperation of workers, staff, material, machinery, and a choreography of sound, image, texture and gesture that is revealing itself in greater detail every day we work on this."
